Abus Locks, Chains and Bike Locks
Abus locks have a long-standing reputation for building reliable, high quality padlocks, locks and chains having innovated in this field since 1924. The company was originally founded by August Bremicker’s family in Germany with a mission to produce security hardware of the highest quality. The name Abus is formed from an acronym of August Bremicker and Sons and throughout the ages Abus has managed to retain its independence unlike many of its counterparts. It has always remained a family business and is now owned by the fourth generation of the family, still operating the global brand in accordance with the Christian beliefs of their founder.
In 1970 Abus introduced their red and white logo, which has been the symbol of the brand for the last 40 years now. The company has expanded globally to include 4 new production sites in Germany as well as 2 in China and distributors worldwide. This rapid expansion has been primarily due to the unbeatable range and reputation of their products. Abus was a key player in the introduction of a 15 level rating for security which now serves as a guide to the suitability of locks for a range of tasks from the lowest to very high security tasks.
The first product they developed was a simple but secure mortice lock called a curtain lock. From this initial product grew the extensive range of products now available from Abus Locks including; padlocks, bicycle locks, hasps & Staples, door locks and combination locks to name but a few. From their flagship Granit Padlock range, featuring the patented Abus Plus locking mechanism, to a range of combination padlocks to secure your suitcase; Abus have the right product for just about any application. Their lock range includes a vast selection of keyed alike Abus Padlocks allowing for the convenience of 2 or more padlocks each operating with just one shared key. Also included in their range are high security cables and chains as well as secure anchor points for both domestic and commercial use.
The Abus name stands for security that you can trust; its products have been tried and tested millions of times and meet the highest demands of quality and ease of use. The list of Abus innovations that make life difficult for burglars is a long one, making them a very good choice for securing just about anything from your motorcycle to your home. Even Abus low-level padlocks offer a very competitive level of security when compared to their competitors and at the top level the Granit, Granit Plus and Granit XPlus padlock range offers a serious defence against the most determined thief. Abus also produce specialist locks, from weatherproof units for exterior use, all the way up to marine grade padlocks suitable for use in highly corrosive nautical environments. Keyed-alike versions of nearly all Abus locks are available, establishing Abus as the lock of choice for many large and diverse industries.
The Abus range of padlocks is vast, beginning at the entry level Abus 55 and Abus 65 series locks; traditional padlocks with a brass body and hardened steel shackle, available with extra-long shackles, or as keyed-alike padlocks enabling multiple padlocks to be locked or unlocked with a single key. The Abus 65 series also have a stainless steel shackle, both having options for a lighter aluminium body in the form of the Abus T55 and Abus T65 series.
The Abus 41 series are laminated which makes them all-weather padlocks, whilst the Abus T84 Inox padlocks have stainless steel internal components and vinyl outer casings for use in severe weather, whilst the Abus 85IB is a full marine grade product. The Abus 70AL range of locks have all components of the mechanism and shackle coated to prevent chemical corrosion, making them suitable for use in hazardous environments.
For higher security requirements there is the patented Abus 20, Abus 23, Abus 24 and Abus 26 series patented Diskus lock range with a disc-shaped round body and partially enclosed shackle minimising the available level of manipulation, as well as an anti-cut plate to provide 360 degree protection from tools such as a hacksaw, and a high quality welded seam with a high resistance to impact. Many of the Abus Diskus padlocks are also available in full stainless steel.
Even heavier duty locks are available in the form of the Abus 82 and Abus 92 series Monoblock brass shutter locks, and the Abus 36 and Abus 37 series Abus Granit padlocks; providing an extremely high level security for use in high-risk environments.
The range of keyless Abus combination locks includes the Abus 150, Abus 155, Abus 158 and Abus 165 series padlocks, which come in sizes suitable for everything from luggage and laptop cases to sheds and lockup doors. The Abus 180IB Nautilus lock is a special weatherproof combination padlock. The codes on these combination padlocks are all resettable.
Beyond padlocks, Abus also offer a full range of high security hasps and staples, wall anchors, ground anchors, security chains and specialist motorcycle and bicycle locks. These include the Granit X Plus D-Lock and bracket with its patented parabolic shackle, which Abus claim is 'as secure as Fort Knox'.
