  1. ForgeFix Penny Washers, ZP Range

    SKU: PTDGRPFORPENY6

    From:

    £0.24

    Inc VAT:

    £0.29

These Forgefix Flat Penny washers, have a 25mm outside diameter. The washers are bright zinc plated for increased corrosion resistance, and have been given the name Penny Washer due to their similarity in size to an old penny.

Washers provide a smooth surface for the nut or bolt to bear on, making it less likely to loosen as a result of an uneven fastening surface. The main purpose of a washer is to distribute the load under a bolt head or the nut face.

    APPLICATION:
On all manner of bolting applications.
Can be used with all types of bolts and nuts.

Zinc coatings prevent oxidation of the protected metal to create a longer lasting finish. It does this by forming a barrier and by acting as a sacrificial anode if this barrier is damaged. Zinc oxide is a fine white dust that (in contrast to iron oxide) does not trigger a breakdown of the substrates surface integrity as it is formed. The zinc oxide, if left intact, can act as a barrier to further oxidation, in a way similar to the protection afforded to aluminum and stainless steels by their oxide layers.

  2. ForgeFix Threaded Rod, A2 Stainless Steel Range

    SKU: PTDGRPFORROD6SS

    From:

    £1.19

    Inc VAT:

    £1.43

These Forgefix Threaded Rods are made of A2 stainless steel, which will not corrode, rust or stain from water. This makes them ideally suited for corrosive and coastal applications as well as many other varied applications. They can be used with many other products including Drop in Anchors and Masonry Anchor Shields, and provide a cost effective fastening for many applications.

    Conform to DIN 975 standards.

    APPLICATION:
Used widely in the soft furnishing trades where strong timber connection is required. Also extensively used in Playground and Climbing Wall manufacturing.
Ideal for use in chemical fixing applications where non standard sizes are required.

A2 Type 304 Stainless Steel can also be called 18/8 because it contains approximately 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel. It is austenitic steel and is non-magnetic. The chromium provides a corrosion and oxidation resistance, although it may tarnish. It is immune to foodstuffs, sterilising solutions, most organic chemicals and dyestuffs and also a wide variety of inorganic chemicals. As such, it is used extensively for many types of fixings and fasteners used in sanitary or hygiene applications.
